Proposed Revisions to Sign Ordinance

On August, 16, 2018 the Planning Commission held a public hearing regarding a proposed revision of the Zoning Ordinance CHAPTER 9 – SIGNAGE. The main purpose of the revised Chapter 9 is to achieve compliance with the holding of Reed v. Town of Gilbert. However, after receiving input from staff and the public, the Commission offered amendments to the ordinance. One of the key changes to the ordinance would be the elimination of portable signs, such as sandwich boards and feather signs from commercial properties.

The Planning Commission directed staff to incorporate recommendations made at the public hearing and distribute the draft ordinance to businesses for input prior to scheduling a new public hearing.
