Z-20-01 Rezoning Request - Chapman

Case Z-20-01 Rezoning Request - Chapman:  Request to change the underlying zoning of a parcel totaling approximately 6,136 square feet from a current zoning of Town Core Commercial (TCC) to a Commercial Buffer (CB) Zone.  The address of the subject parcel is 6149 E. Cave Creek Road and is located at the southwest corner of E. Cave Creek Rd. and N. Basin Rd.

An application for a Special Use was concurrently applied for (Case SU-20-01) to allow for the distillation of American White Whiskey.  The Special Use will be considered following the determination of the Rezoning Request.

The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on July 16, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers, 37622 N. Cave Creek Rd.,  to consider the Rezoning Request and the Special Use.

At its July 16, 2020 meeting by a vote of 4-0,  the Planning Commission continued the meeting to a date certain of July 23, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.  with the following motion:  "Due to the Governor’s renewed efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19 and the Planning Commission’s duty to allow for public hearing, moved to continue this agenda to a date certain of Thursday, July 23rd, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. to reconvene via technological means and allow staff the opportunity to make necessary accommodations for the public to provide comments in a safe and efficient manner."

At the July 23, 2020 meeting, the Commission voted 6-1 to recommend approval of the Rezoning Request.  The Town Council will hold  a public hearing on September 21, 2020 to consider the rezoning request.

At the September 21, 2020 Town Council meeting, the Town Council gave 1st reading of Ordinance O2020-06 amending the zoning map by changing the underlying zoning of Unit 104 of the Treehouse,  a Commercial Condominium , parcel 211-11-937 , from a Town Core Commercial (TCC) Zone to a Commercial Buffer (CB) Zone by a vote of 7-0.

Second reading of Ordinance O2020-06 will given at the Town Council Meeting of October 5, 2020.

At the September 21, 2020 Town Council meeting, the Town Council Approved the Special Use to allow for the distillation of American White Whiskey by a vote of 7 - 0.
