Evacuation order lifted for East Desert Fire (see details)

Due to the East Desert Fire the Town instituted a mandatory evacuation order, for the general area in Cave Creek bounded by Morning Star Road to the North, Ocotillo to the South, 55th St to the East, and 48th St to the West. The order was lifted on May 19, at 6 p.m. and residents may return to their homes.

The evacuation order due to the East Desert Fire has been LIFTED as of May 19, at 6 p.m. Residents may return to their homes. Please use caution when you re-enter as crews continue to work & trucks travel up and down the roadways.

At 6pm today (May 19), Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (AZDFFM) will lift the East Desert Fire evacuation orders AS LONG AS CONDITIONS CONTINUE in the right direction. All residents will be allowed to return home. Be careful re-entering as fire crews are still working. The Cave Creek Regional Park remains closed.

Firefighters have the fire 70% contained and it is holding at 1,492 acres. Crews continue to work in the area so please drive safe upon returning.

Additional resources ordered including 6 shot crews, 10 engines, & aircraft. Evacuations are still in effect. The East Desert Fire has been added to Inciweb, and the Department of Forestry and Fire Management is directing the public to check there for updates and information.
